LYNN ADAMSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Women Health Care Executives of Northern California (WHCE) is a professional association dedicated to the advancement of women in health-related careers. Each year WHCE offers the Lynn Adamson Memorial Scholarship to a graduate level female student dedicated to a health-related career. The $5,000 scholarship and a one-year complimentary WHCE membership are awarded to a student who meets the eligibility and selection criteria.
Female graduate-level student dedicated to a health-related career, i.e. health care services, public health, health care policy and research, health care management and administration, nursing, medicine, health technology, health law, etc.
Must be a resident living in the San Francisco Bay Area (Counties include San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo)
Must have one full academic year of study remaining
Must be in good academic standing
The Scholarship Winner is expected to attend WHCE's Annual Woman of the Year event
The Lynn Adamson Memorial Scholarship is conferred solely on merit, not financial need. Recipient selection is based on evidence of achievement in the following:
Leadership – demonstrated experience as an effective leader.
Scholarship - demonstrated academic achievement.
Integrity of Character – demonstrated integrity of character. A successful candidate is a positive influence on her peer group and displays qualities such as compassion and empathy for others, interest in and respect for others, humility, honesty, loyalty, courtesy, courage, and maturity.
Preparation to meet key challenges in health care – demonstrate preparation to meet key challenges facing health care today
Contribution to health care – demonstrated personal or professional strengths that allow contribution uniquely to health care.
Applications and reference guidelines can be downloaded from www.whcesfbay.org. Applications must be submitted electronically by 5:00pm PST on March 24th, 2020. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

A completed Scholarship Application Form
Current resume (two page limit)
Current unofficial transcript
One reference letter, either academic or professional; Reference should note how the applicant meets the scholarship criteria.
The reference letter must be signed and submitted by the application deadline. Applicants are strongly encouraged to foward the Reference Letter Guidelines (which are the Selection Criteria) to the indivisual submitting the reference letter so that they can write the letter accordingly.
I live in the San Diego area; can I apply for the scholarship? No, you must reside in the San Francisco Bay area.
I will only have a summer semester left of school, can I apply? No, you mus have one academic year of eligibility left.
What should be in my recommendation letter? Your reference should note how you meet the scholarship criteria in the recommedation letter.
Any other things that I should do? Make sure that you have submitted all required documents online. Check to make sure you recieved the correct transcript, check for grammar and spelling and follow the directions. Do not submit more documents than requested (e.g more than one reference letter).
When will the scholarpship awardees be notified? The awardees will be notified by April 15th, 2019. Due to large volume of applicants, we may not be able to notify everyone.
